Lake of the Angels

  • Weather Conditions: Forecast for mostly clouds, temps in low 70s. Ended up being full clouds, socked in at destination

  • Trail Conditions: Trail is in pretty good shape. Some areas are over grown, glad we wore pants.

  • Gear: Intention was for an overnight trip so had full packs with us.

  • Timing: 3 hours up, 2 hours down. Averaged about a mile an hour ascending, 1.6 mph on the way down.

  • Navigation: We had hoped to XC out to Hagen Lake, but the clouds increased in density at higher elevations and no chance of them burning off.

  • Highlights: SO MANY BERRIES. YUM.

  • Challenges: This trail is rude. You climb straight up and up and up and then some more up. Love getting to the head wall and traversing along the rock.

  • Wildlife & Nature: Waterfall was raging, always fun to have off in the distance. Raven up at the lake made his presence known.

  • Tips for Others: Seriously relentless trail that's worth the work. I seriously hope the next time we get up there, we have clear weather though.
